Tell us about your role here at Annalect.
I work as a Technical Business Manager on the DevOps team, primarily responsible for managing the Financial and Security Operations of Annalect’s cloud environments. Every day is a little different — but usually involves reviewing terms for contracts; answering client security questionnaires; reviewing cloud infrastructure costs and best practices; working on our security, privacy, and integrity certifications; and partnering with other teams for budgeting and forecasting.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
When I’m not working, I spend time with my wife and our two dogs, Ozzie and Cody. We’re big travelers (38 US States!) and our last big trip was to Australia and New Zealand … highly recommended! I was born in Philadelphia, and have lived in that area for most of my life, so naturally I’m a diehard Eagles and Flyers fan. Go Birds!
What is your proudest professional achievement?
My first year here at Annalect, I proposed some changes to our data storage practices which would maintain integrity, but reduce cost. My team made me feel empowered enough to push for significant change — which proved to be incredibly successful!
Who or what is your biggest inspiration?
My grandmother! She was full of great stories, like how she met US Presidents and Weird Al Yankovic while working in the hotel business, or how Bruce Willis extended his hand to help her off the ground while she was an extra in the movie 12 Monkeys. Most importantly, she taught us how to live our lives most happily.
What message do you have for others, who may be early in their career and looking to grow into positions of leadership in their schools, workplaces and communities?
There is no such thing as a bad question. Asking questions about why or how certain things are done helps to drive change and growth, for the better.
