Employee Spotlight: Carrie Morgano, Associate Director, Platform Account Management – Healthcare

Our Employee Spotlight series is designed to provide a deeper look into our talent here at Annalect across all different roles, teams and experience levels. You can expect to learn about passions inside and outside of our office walls.

What is your current role at Annalect?

I’m on Annalect’s Platform Account Management team, which is part of Annalect’s Consultancy division. I work with Omnicom Media Group’s healthcare clients to help them in building and refining techniques for using data and technology to improve their marketing strategies and increase consumer reach.

Describe a passion you have for the type of work you do and how Annalect helps to feed your passion?

Advertisers need to both outsmart their competitors and evolve with the demands of their consumers to keep up in today’s rapidly changing advertising world. With 5,000+ marketing technology solutions available, it can be overwhelming to make sense of what solution is best to drive their business forward. I find it very rewarding to help clients turn chaos into order and identify solutions that address their business needs.

Healthcare companies have to overcome unique advertising challenges that don’t affect other advertisers, such as stringent privacy and legal regulations. I thrive on helping clients navigate this complex environment to cultivate innovative, data-driven strategies.

Can you think of a project you were a part of that you really enjoyed? Why?

When I joined Annalect, I began working with a large global healthcare advertiser. They had just started the rollout of a Data Management Platform (DMP) technology for a few of their over-the-counter (OTC) brands. Just over a year and a half later, they’ve grown their DMP adoption to over a dozen OTC and pharmaceutical brands. The DMP solution in combination with advanced analytics has helped to reveal valuable consumer insights, resulting in more refined messaging and targeting strategies, and increased ROI. It’s an exciting evolution to be part of, when the advertiser’s willingness to embrace a data-driven approach opens up opportunities for their business and for a stronger working relationship.

What made you first enter your field? Was it planned or unplanned?

I realized early on that I enjoyed health education and wanted to help people make informed decisions about their health and the health of those close to them. I began my career in health communications, developing messaging that gave consumers access to essential health information where and when they needed it. A lot has changed since then in the way people consume information, so while it wasn’t part of my plan to be in a technical role, the digitization of the communications industry has guided the shift. I really enjoy working in the tech and data space. It’s constantly evolving and I like being at the forefront of providing cutting-edge solutions.

What advice would you give to someone just starting his/her career in your field?

Everyone has been in the position where they’re just starting out, so don’t be afraid to ask questions and defer to those with more experience. I’ve gained great knowledge working with various Annalect teams and Omnicom partners. I encourage a “roll up your sleeves and get involved” approach and avoid the “that’s not my job or responsibility” mindset. In the long run, being a well-rounded team player will excel you further.

What do you like to do when you’re not at work?

Living in NYC keeps me busy. There’s always a new restaurant to check out, or latest workout craze to attempt; the mini trampoline is one that that did NOT work out well for me! I also really enjoy traveling in my off time. Whether it’s a weekend getaway or a longer trip, I try to do and see as much as I can. I love exploring new cities and experiencing other cultures. It’s easy to get caught up in the day to day hustle, but taking the time to step back and to visit other parts of the world gives me a whole new perspective and appreciation. Below are a couple of my favorite photos from my last big trip through the French Riviera. Believe it or not, I took these with my iPhone, just added a few filters and voilà!
